Guest guest
Extra pounds carry more weight in neuromuscular disease - including CMT. Has a story on CMT woman who had her stomach stapled. A few weeks ago someone asked about weight loss, so I am posting this. ~ GG http://www.mdausa.org/publications/Quest/q114weigh.cfm
Guest guest
Just thought I would let everybody know, six weeks ago at the urging of my Neurologist I had gastric bypass surgery performed and I have CMT1A. At this point I have lost 43 pounds and I can already see a difference in the amount of walking I can do, my balance and my strength. Guest guest
Hi , Can you tell me a bit more about the gastric bypass procedure, ex - how do you feel now and how did your eating habits change, and also did your insurance pay? Guest guest
I checked into the gastric bypas and the thing that worried me was that the death rate seemed high and I didn't want to take the chance. Does anyone have any suggestions how to get rid of the weight. I seem to have a harder time. I gained most of my weight from the steroids the doctor gave me for my asthma. I can't seem to lose it no matter what I tried. I am a teacher and this past year my classroom was on the 3rd floor and no elevator. I wear AFOs so I thought this would be a good exercise and I would lose weight but I didn't lose hardly any. I ride bikes whenever I get a chance and I try to swim laps when I am at a pool but any other exercise seems to cause my tendons to pull or tear. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Jen
