Guest guest
I learned that harder mattresses work better for me. I can't explain why I just know that on soft mattresses I get a weird sensation and can't get comfortable to go to sleep. Guest guest
Hi , I guess your kids mattresses are soft. I never tried a waterbed but I would have thought they are soft, maybe not the surface of it. Even lying flat on my back I get this loss of feeling in arms and legs if the surface is soft. I guess I am surprised that I have not heard from more people about this. Ben
Guest guest
Hi Ben: I have the same type of problems sleeping or lying down. We have a waterbed, once in a while I will fall asleep on one of the kid's beds which are regular mattresses and the same thing happens to me. I just figured it was my CMT getting worse. My worst problem lately is the pain my lower back--it is mostly on the right side. Lying flat on my back sometimes gives me more relief than anything. Guest guest
I have a similar problem but with me it's sitting or lying on hard surfaces that make my legs go numb. The doctor has said I have spinal stenosis and arthritis in my lower back and whenever I either sit or lie on a firm surface it puts too much pressure on the nerves going to my legs and makes me so numb I can't sleep or get comfortable. It's a horrible feeling! I ended up getting a 3 " memory foam mattress pad topper and have that on our regular mattress. It's the only thing I've found so far to help eliminate pressure points when I sleep. I haven't found any medications that have helped with the numbness but there's been a direct coorelation with my lower back and the numbness; when my lower back is flared up and inflamed the numbness is worse. When the numbness is worse it makes my legs feel weaker and makes me a lot more unstable when I walk. ~
Guest guest
Dear , I have the same problem you have. I even had a hard time last night. My hands go numb and my feet do also. I know just what you are going through. It feels as if your arms are like jelly and your feet, feel like you can't feel them at all for at least awhile. Does it scare you? It does to me. If you find out any thing please let me know. Thanks. If there is any thing I can help you with please let me know. Joyanna
Guest guest
Dear Joanna, A firm matress made all the difference for me. The surface of the mattress should be firm. I hardly have a problem on it. If however I put a soft pad or feather cushion over the mattress I get those same numbing sensations in both hands and feet. It seems that you should get less pressure points with a soft cushion, so go figure. I also would get numb hands and feet when I go to the movies but I discovered if I sit staight and more importantly kept my head tilted back or at least not forward it doesn't happen.
