Guest guest
Hi everyone, To make a long story short. I have a personal conferance with the Illinois social security office about an overpayment on disability payments from about 10 years ago. Does anyone have any guidance or helpful sugestions for me. Guest guest
Isn't it sad how the government system can get away with giving people the runaround? They are all more concerned with their own paychecks than helping people who really need it. I know when I applied, even though I wasn't dx'ed with it, they told me 'We can see that you have some sort of problem, but there is nothing we can do without a formal diagnosis.' I just went to a neurologist last week and he told me 'Yes, I can see that you have significant nerve damage just from looking at you; but in order to determine what it is exactly, I will have to do an EMG and also a blood test.' Those tests are going to cost me nearly a thousand dollars. ( But good news about that: my husband's manager at his job knows some people that might be able to help me with those outrageous finances, so I can finally be " formally diagnosed " and try again to get some real help. Elaine, I wish you the best of luck with your appeal, and hopefully they will open their eyes and quit pretending to be blind to the needs of the people that deserve it. Guest guest
Elaine, Don't give up trying, after one whole year of fighting for our 14 yr son to get pt (his insurance company said we had used up our 1 time 60 consecutive day pt for life, yes life) the PA Dept of Health agreed that they never did pay for a full 60 day period so therefore they ruled against them. Unfortunately, there seems to be a policy on the books from the 1970's that pretty much dictates that most insurance company only have to pay for one set of 60 consecutive days when you have an acute illness. I fought for the principal of the matter, even though I will paying out of pocket again once this 60 days is up. Never give up, that's what these people want you to do... Guest guest
Both of my sons had to get a " disability " lawyer to get on disability. Once the lawyer got involved it was a short time and they were approved. The only trouble is , you then have to give the lawyer a small percent of the first check. But the law regulates how much they can take. It was worth it just to get it over with, and it is retro-active back to the time you first applied. Good luck with your appeal.
