Guest guest
Dear ers, I have written to my senators regarding CMT, , CMT awareness and the need for increased funds and research. Today I received a letter from Sen. Dianne Feinstein (California) and want to share this with you. [senator Feinstein is a member of the Committee on Appropriations, the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, the Committee on the Judiciary, the Committee on Rules and Administration, and Select Committee on Intelligence.] ~ Gretchen --------------------------------------------------------------------------------\ ----- April 16, 2004 Dear Ms. Glick: Thank you for writing to me about Charcot Marie Tooth disease. I am always glad to hear from my constituents and I welcome this opportunity to respond. I appreciate knowing about . I agree that it is vitally important to spread public awareness and support education and research regarding diseases and disorders. For this reason, I am a consistent supporter of funding for research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The NIH's National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke conducts and supports a wide range of research on neurological disorders, including Charcot Marie Tooth disease. As you may know, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is comprised of 27 institutes and centers of medicine which fund and conduct medical research. It provides a resource for health care professionals and the public and it provides opportunities to ambitious scientists throughout the Nation. I have consistently supported biomedical research because I believe that it is at the heart of innovation in the health field. Over the past five years, I fought to double the budget of the NIH and I will continue to fight for future increases in NIH funding. Again, thank you for writing to me. I hope you will continue to keep in touch on issues of importance to you. Should you have any further questions or comments, please feel free to call my Washington, D.C. staff at (202) 224 - 3841, or visit my website at http://feinstein.senate.gov. Guest guest
Gretchen: I'd like to request your permission to copy and paste Senator Feinstein's response to your request/letter to be included in an email to my Congresslady, Darlene Hooley. I will also send to my Senator Ron Wyden. Of course, I will add the caveat of HNPP within my letter and use your response letter as an example of Senator Feinstein's concern and involvement with NIH funding. Thanks for your consideration to my request. rQn I
