Effective Pain Diagnosis and Management To Be Highlighted at 12th Annual

Congress on Women's Health in Hilton Head, South Carolina, June 5-8,

2004

LARCHMONT, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 30, 2004--Addressing chronic

pain, which is often misdiagnosed and undertreated, is one of the

biggest challenges in medicine today. This year's Congress addresses

chronic pain and challenges in pain management, including

state-of-the-art prevention, differential diagnosis, effective

therapeutic protocols for pain relief, lifestyle changes, and

alternative approaches. Barry Eliot Cole, M.D., Director of Education

for the American Academy of Pain Management, and Albert Ray, M.D.,

Medical Director of the Miami Pain and Integrative Medicine Center, will

cover these issues in-depth during the 12th Annual Congress on Women's

Health at the Hilton Head Marriott Beach and Golf Resort in Hilton Head,

SC, June 5-8, 2004.

Millions of women suffer from the pain of migraine and other headaches

throughout their lifespan. Anne Remmes, M.D., Assistant Clinical

Professor of Neurology at Columbia University College of Physicians and

Surgeons, will lead an informative session on the

under-treatment and over-medication of headache sufferers. Other

in-depth presentations will include the differential diagnosis of

fibromyalgia and other soft tissue disorders; rheumatoid arthritis and

lupus, challenges presented by overlapping joint pain; and a hands-on

demonstration of acupuncture for pain relief.

Also highlighting this year's Annual Congress on Women's Health are

Grand Plenary sessions on the therapeutic value of statins, the battle

against obesity, and the emerging revolution in women's healthcare.

Plenary sessions will include the ongoing controversy over menopause and

hormone replacement therapy, and the effort to tailor

therapeutic strategies for women with cardiovascular disease.
