Guest guest
Tom, I'm confused. When one says " fused " ankle, is that the same as a triple arthrodesis? I had a triple 20+ years ago and I have rock hard thigh muscles thanks to exercise and weight lifting (leg curls, leg extensions, leg presses...) I think I read somewhere that thigh involvement was another " maybe you have it maybe you don't " manifestation. I'm wondering if the ankle fusion / triple arthrodesis actually has a direct correlation to thigh muscle loss? Rae
Guest guest
Rae, I am not certain if the triple arthrodesis and ankle fusion are the same or not, but that was my question--how would ankle fusion affect thigh muscles? I too have strong thigh muscles from working out, so I became alarmed at the thought of ankle fusion affecting them. Please, if you will ,describe to me your triple arthrodesis procedure and the benefits and drawbacks. How old were you when you had the procedure? I am 57 years old so will not heal as quickly as I might have years ago. I am trying to decide if surgery is the best option for me. I enjoy excellent health and am very reluctant to do anything that would jeopardize that. Thanks for the information if you are willing to share your experience, You would be welcome to write directly to my email if you wish. Guest guest
I read always but never write...I am 34 from ohio had cmt forever but just diagnosed at 28...I have 2 children and a hairdresser so I am on my feet long hours. I had my one ankle fused at 29 the best thing I could have ever done.. I use to fall all the time constantly spraining and always in pain. I had my second child after the surgery and its a good thing because I could have never kept up with him... I am able to run after him. I did lose some calf muscle but once I could start using the leg again that muscle came back. I drive just fine ( right foot was one with fusion) can stand up on my toes. my left foot isn't as bad but if the time comes will surely have surgery again. My main problem is that I just cant go walk say around a mall or the zoo without something to hold on to if i have the stroller life is alittle easier and still get tired but the severe pain in the foot ankle is gone thanks for listening mindy
