Guest guest
my doctor suggested hand and wrist splints to help my hands stay in a position so they won't go to sleep. I bought mine at a medical supply store and I love them. maybe you should try this. it works for me. Cathleen in Arkansas

Guest guest
Hi Becky, I've got the same problem, and I'm scared my left hand won't wake up being I just lost my feeling in my right (although it's coming back slowly) and I just found out about CMT this month, I've definitely have had all the symtoms, now it makes sense. I tend to sleep in wierd positions because my job is very fast paced and when I get home I'm so tired I pretty much pass out. Not that this is helping now that I think about it, but on my side with a pillow between my knees seems to help.
Guest guest
To Becky, I and my 21 yr. old son both have the same problems. We both have CMT, do not know which type. Gene
Guest guest
Hi Becky, I am 56 and this last year the same was happening to me. It even included my feet sometimes. I was sleeping on a soft feather mattress which lies upon my regular matress. As soon as I removed the cushion I slept fine. Since then I have discovered the firmer the mattress, especially the surface the better. However in my case my arms would wake up rather quickly. I hope this helps you. Guest guest
Hi Becky! I have the same problem. Usually because I'm a side sleeper and tend to curl my hands up under the pillow. If I wrap them around a pillow (holding it to my chest) that seems to help. I still find them falling asleep, just not as often. My Dad has CMT and he always believed that it's related. He suggested that I sleep w/ my hands down to my sides. That's not really comfortable though. Sorry I don't have any better suggestions, but thought I'd share anyway. A. Guest guest
Becky: May hands were doing this all the time for 6 mo-1 year. I had carpel tunnel not CMT in ky hands. I had also tried everything- splints, sleeping differently, etc but this was the problem--went to a hand clinic, had a nerve conduction test and ...carpel tunnel. I had surgery on both hands and now, my hands don't fall asleep or hurt or bother me. Good luck. Sharon
