Guest guest
I want to thank Gretchen and her efforts to create a place of positivity for those of us with CMT. The current poll is of special interest to me, as I have been around a long time and watched our health care system deterioriate. I am a veteran of two Vietnam tours - yes, the military took me even with my CMT. It seems no one bothered to write it in my files, and my legs/feet did not show anything different from the other guys. I came back in one piece and used the GI Bill to get my education (a tad bit late) but from there I went on to management jobs in the hotel industry. Just want to say to all the young ones out there - learn all you can about CMT, but don't let the " what ifs " stop you. Get an education and keep getting retraining or just learn your boss' job. That's what I did. I'm retired now, my choice, and enjoy a good round of golf, some travel with my wife, and the extended family I have. Both my daughter and son have CMT, (it's 1A) and are active with their children in school, church and community. I made sure that the CMT factor would not stop them from getting an education or obtaining employment. My daughter went to pharmacy school and is a pharmacist, my son (the musician) now works for Sony. No one in the family has allowed CMT to stop their dreams. Sometimes diversions were needed, adjustments made, but all's well. And we will also pass our personal family " CMT Thought Legacy " on to our grandchildren. Thanks again, Gretchen, for what you are doing. You must be a very special lady. Warren
