Guest guest
The July 28 Asian Age reports : The warning sounded at the recent Bangkok conference about an iminenet AIDS explosion in India has been powerfully reinforced by Human Rights Watch, a New York based organisation, which observes that the government's failure to check abuses against children affected by HIV/AIDS is placing million of lives at risk. The organisation cautions that India's entire AIDS control starety of focussing almost entirely on so-called high risk groups (sex workers and truck drivers) is inadequite as in at least six states - Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Nagaland and Manipur - the disease has spread into the general population. HIV-affected children, including those living with the disease are 'nearly invisible' as far as government's anti-AIDS strategy is concerned. ______________________ Arati Samajpati E-mail:<parivartan@...>
Guest guest
Dear FORUM, Is the AIDS interest-group of the world so weak as to be unable to bring pressure to bear on Indian Govt. from the World Legal authority sitting at The Hague or is it that their interpretations are not based on reliable data which fails to convince The hague or any other authoritative body of the UN/civil society/govts?.
