Guest guest
Hi all, I am taking 5600 mg of ascorbic palmitate from my herbalist. I tested that this is the type of C that my body requires. My daughter tested exactly for the same type. However, she has to take less than I (probably cause I am old). I have many other problems than just CMT which include an L1 explosion fracture which left me with spinal cord damage. BUT let me tell you, I am noticing some changes. My toes are not looking normal on my left foot, long and straight. Pretty with my toe rings on. I am gonna continue to take this vitamin as I see many many new things my daughter can do from this vitamin. My thumbs which have been disjointed and painfull for the last 8 years are now showing improvement. My right side is being lazy and shows less improvement but I will deal with lazy and keep taking this vitamin. Candy
Guest guest
Well, I don't know how to describe what the difference is right now. All I can say is that I can feel parts of my ankles that I don't remember feeling before . . . muscles, ligaments, tendons, I have no idea. I can flex my left ankle more than I could before . . . it just feels weird, but a good weird. The right one is catching up and I feel some in that one too . . . just not as much. I also feel my calf muscles starting to flex. They used to do that but I don't remember when. So while I can't say what the changes are specifically, I can say I'm noticing more good stuff. Guest guest
Hi all...just a Vitamin C update from me. Much much more energy, seems like my muscle tone has improved. My calves are thicker...my AFOs are tighter; may need them stretched out!!! The fingers on my right hand have loosened up some too. My left hand is good. I feel much less tightening in the tendons on my left....I take 10,000 units a day. Still don't know my CMT type yet; still in the appeals process with my health insurance over paying for the test. Now that I have a grandchild I REALLY want to know the type I and my daughter have. That's all for now gang.... Barb Fl

Guest guest
Hi , Good topic. I don't take it, but at least now, several years after that initial French rodent study, there are clinical human trials underway using CMT persons with 1A. The trials are in Italy, Belgium, the UK, and the one in the USA is about to start. So there's progress of a 'different' kind, albeit slow. I expect to see trial results/hear news maybe as early as the end of 2007. ~ Gretchen
Guest guest
Gretchen, that is great to know. Do you know how much vitamin C they are going to be given a day and will it be in pill form? Pam
Guest guest
Gretchen, , Thanks for the vitamin C update thread. My kitchen is almost complete just battling for a corian installation date which means 5 months of bad habits will soon disappear once we are able to cook and eat again! The UK trials from what I understand are still in grant funding mode and have not officially commenced yet. Will keep you all posted as I hope to have a follow up neurology appointment soon (I need to find the box with my case details and info in it to book this) and am sure they will say more then. Best wishes from Donna in London who is this week in Paris for work! ....The trials are in... the UK...
