Guest guest
I've been taking the Vitamin C for almost 2 months now, (6,000-9,000mg a day). My husband commented last week that my balance seems to be better and today I realized that I didn't need his hand for balance walking out of a store to my car. I've worn AFOs since age 5 and years ago I lost all ability to raise or lower my left foot due to muscle atrophy and my right foot only moved up and down just slightly when I really concentrated on moving it. The other night I was sitting there concentrating on moving my right foot and we noticed that I was able to move it considerably more! I know it doesn't sound like much, but to me it's a huge difference after not seeing any progress in years!! I have noticed other small things in the past couple of weeks such as it being easier to turn the salt and pepper grinder/shaker that we have. Before, I had a hard time grasping it and turning the pepper mill and had to ask for help with it. I sat here thinking about my balance and the fact that it's been since the beginning of March since I've fallen. That's also a huge factor for me considering I was still recooperating from a broken foot at the time and trying to regain lost strength from being wheelchair bound for a month and a half. I've been riding an exercise bike 1-3 miles a day and am finding it easier and easier every day. I feel like the Vitamin C is giving me more endurance and more energy to make all of this possible. For me, the fear of side effects down the road are minimal compared to the hope of better quality of life. I have had some major set backs with my CMT over the past 3 years or so and I'd be happy just to regain the strength that I had 4 years ago and I feel like I'm on my way now to achieving that goal and perhaps even bypassing it. I'm very curious to see what Dr. Shy has to say about Vit C, having gone to him for multiple tests a couple of years ago. I'm not going to give anyone else advice on whether or not they should take Vitamin C or any other vitamins, but I think if it's working for you, that's AWESOME! ~
