Hi all. I need to find out what kind of preservatives

to use in a milk based lotion I'm going to make, any

hints or suggestions?

Hi ,

First, Vitamin E is NOT a preservative, it is an antioxidant. It will help

to prolong the shelf life of butters and oils, but does NOTHING to protect

your products from germs, bacteria, etc.

Natural preservatives is a very touchy subject. IMHO, I would *never* put a

water based product (or one that could have water introduced) on the market

without a full spectrum chemical preservative. I think this comes from my

science background (I'm a biologist).

That said, if you do want a *natural* preservative, your best bet is

probably potassium sorbate. Snowdrift farms carries it.
