Guest guest
Regarding Vitamin C - I am excited about the research relating to remyelination and Vitamin C in CMT! I am going to keep my Vit C supplement intake at 500 - 1000 mg daily. I think that based on the human research on safe levels vs. megadoses, 500 -1000 mg is reasonable. I'll still be at 666% -1333% of the RDA, but below the safe upper limits. Since kidney stones are one 'side effect' of Vitamin C overdose, I won't go over that level. I had kidney stones which caused emergency surgery and blood sepsis, and a five day hospital stay on IV antibiotics. That experience was painful, and turned out to be life-threatening. I never considered having another EMG, but that's a thought! Since I was diagnosed with CMT, I'm gradually feeling stronger. I think better self-care is part of the reason, and I have stayed on a daily multivitamin since then. This is a great place to learn better self-care. FYI - Yellow urine is not the only indicator of Vitamin C overdose. Anyone getting nutrition advice should check with your state board on nutrition licensure to find someone qualified to dispense nutrition information (licensed nutritionist or licensed dietitian). Vitamin overdose can be dangerous and shouldn't be taken lightly. This research is pretty exciting! Danita
Guest guest
Danita, I know it is not the only indicator. It is one I've seen before and an easy one to notice. I am in the care of a licensed professional who has taken great care of me for years. Also, my mother, who has CMT as well, is a nurse . .. .. so, to quote someone special to me, " I got it covered. " Thanks,
