Guest guest
Hi Mel, I have used a variety of different oils in place of other oils, I have used both almond and apricot as well as grapeseed oil in place of coconut oil and haven't had any mistakes yet. A lot of bath products have sesame seed oil in them, that is the base for Nutragenas body oil. When you buy sesame seed oil you have to be careful of what kind you buy. If you get it out of the Asian section of the supermarket 99 0/0 of the time it will be toasted and unfit for use in toiletries, you want the clear unscented kind. By unscented I mean that the oil will be a pale yellow color and will not smell liked smoked products. The toasted kind is a brownish color and has a definite smoked scent. Hope this helps you. Guest guest
I'd use grapeseed or avocado if the seed oil is the problem. But, probably any light oil would do, even olive. Aren't the salt scrubs wonderful? Anne ANNE LEE'S http://annelees.com/essentialoils.html
Guest guest
I would avoid the apricot if you are allergic to almond. I seem to recall my freind who is SEVERELY allergic to apricots telling me that almonds are CLOSELY related to apricots! Maybe you could call an allergist, and ask if they are closely related. Personally, if I were you, I would stick to grapeseed and coconut. Good luck, Sandi
Guest guest
Thanks guys for your replies!! Sandi- I'll have to take that into consideration too- I've never heard of the correlation between almonds and apricots before. It's always the oils that get me- can't pick nuts out of a brownie :-( -so I'll play better safe than sorry and not try apricot. :-) Thanks for the replies! Guest guest
My suggestion is olive oil. Yes, it is heavier than almond, but it has soothing properties to it I like. I too am new here. I haven't been lurking long though Jackie --- roaringbravado <roaringbravado@...> wrote: > > > Hey guys! > > > > I know how great almond oil is- it's in just about > every toiletry > > recipe around it seems.
