Guest guest
I, too have had those feelings of things moving when they are not, or feeling like I am falling backward or forward when I am in actuality sitting still. Also have had eyelid twitches since I was a child. Is this directly related to CMT? Or is it just a fluke?
Guest guest
Hi : I found I had the same symptoms. The symptoms seem to come and go, but were sure to come right after I had been in a boat, or was fishing near fast running water. I do not do well on anything that moves or rocks too quickly. I would be sitting at the table feeling I was moving back and forth away from my food, when I was not moving at all. Really weird sensation. I was told by an ear, nose and throat specialist that I had Labyrinthitis...an inflammation of the inner ear and semicircular canals. These structures are normally responsible for the maintenance of balance and the perception of body position. Inflammation of these structures can result in nausea, vomiting and vertigo made worse by movement. I always keep anti-vert handy. It is a prescription medication. Other related causes can be vertigo and Menieres disease. The interesting thing is that while I was complaining about being dizzy all the time, over a 2 year period, that my doctor sent me to a neurologist. He was responsible for having DNA testing done on me for CMT which proved I had CMT1A. CMT did help to explain my dizziness. It can be one of the many symptoms of CMT. Guest guest
I experienced this just last week! My husband had purchased a motorcycle and took me for a ride. We stopped at a store after a half hour ride and I told him I'd just sit on the bike and wait for him. He told me not to move around too much since the bike was resting on the kick stand and is too heavy for me to hold it up if it started to tip. As I sat there I started to panic because I could swear that I was moving or slipping off the seat even though I wasn't. It was a crazy feeling and I didn't like it much. I can recall one other time I had a similar feeling during an MRI. I was lying on the table inside the MRI machine and they had started the scan and I could swear my legs were slipping or falling off the narrow table. I kept twitching or moving them to try to keep them on the table but they weren't falling off to begin with. They ended up having to stop the scan and strap my legs and feet down so I'd know they weren't moving. Both times seemed to be when I was nervous and my nerves already felt sort of 'jangled' and I think that effected me. As far as the earlier topic on crowds; I don't like them either for fear of getting bumped, pushed, trampled, etc.. When I do have to walk through a crowded room I hold my husbands' hand and walk ahead of him with my other arm out in front of my body slightly so if someone backs up they will bump into my arm and I can sort of tap people on the shoulder so they'll move out of my way. I'm really petite and the easiest way for me to get through a crowd is to move fast and focus on where I am going and basically just plow my way through. If I have to stop and talk to people I feel more insecure about getting bumped or knocked off balance. ~
