Guest guest
Gregor, I understand completely. It is difficult being a young person in leg braces, but I have good news for you. I got my first pair of leg braces at around your age and was embarrassed to wear them, so I didn't. After many falls, and torn tendons and breaks, I decided to wear them. I also was afraid because if I was that bad at 19, how would I be at 30 or 50??? Well Gregor, I am now 32 and yes I have had several surgeries and I still wear leg braces, but I am walking. Not only am I walking, but I am succeeding at life. I am the first person in my family to graduate college and I have a healthy child and am happily married and a full time teacher. Yes, I have pain sometimes, usually when I go without the braces, but my life has been wonderful and yours will be too. I feel that GOD gives us certain burdens to carry to make us stronger people. If I didn't have CMT, I probably wouldn't be so compassionate towards others with disabilities, and I wouldn't be a special education teacher who can relate to her students. Don't give up! If you need to talk email me personally. Just remember most of us have been there. Jen
