Guest guest
I suffer from bruising in my extremities too. After several years of wondering how I got bruised I realized that during my sleep I tend to move a lot and my hubby noticed me kicking myself as if trying to stop my pain somehow. My doctors are no help in explaining my bruises. I figure as long as I am still mobile I will just look like a bandana in the summer. Guest guest
Hi , I have trouble with brusing. I'm 49 and bruse very easily. My husband blames it on my age. I think it might have something to do with CMT, but I'm not sure. Patty in TX. Do you know the 7 " stages " of CMT? Do you know the 4 " stages " of CMT hands? What does " Rehabilitation Management " mean? Guest guest
Hi: Yes, bruising. That's me one big bruise!! My forearms have not fat or muscle so I believe my blood veins are right on top and even if I bump a counter I bruise. In addition, my shines, are just one huge bruise that never goes away, and yes all my docs know. I would post pics as proof but don't want to make people sick. AHHH CMT gotta luv it!! Keep my head up and keep going. Later > Do you know the 7 " stages " of CMT? Do you know the 4 " stages " of CMT hands? What does " Rehabilitation Management " mean? Guest guest
I pop up now and again when I have something to contribute. I'm in this group on behalf of my friend, Sandie, who has CMT ( and no computer ). She's about 50 and for some years now has noticed that she bruises very easily too. There has been no explanation for this. Just thought I'd let you know that there is another with this problem. Janus

Guest guest
Thank you all for your comments and the information about brusing. I think, that since I'm extremely healthy in all ways, and have no history of bleeding disorders in my family, it must be attributable to less fat covering my vessels. I lost 53 pounds last year, by dieting (Weight Watcher) and the brusing started after that. I also think being clumsy with CMT does not help, as I run into doorways, chairs, car doors, you name it, with my poor proprioception. The bruses are usually just little brown spots most of the time about 1/2 " to 1 " in diameter. They usually go away fairly quickly, but I can relate to the totally brused shins look. I don't know if I can wear shorts this summer for how gross it looks. The one summer I finally got skinny enough to do that and now my legs are ugly. Go figure. LOL At least I don't feel alone with this and maybe it's not a CMT issue, but more of an age related thing. However, it's nice to know others are in the same boat. Thanks for your posts. in CO
