Hi Candy,

Just some thoughts after reading your reply.

As children we soak in what's around as what is normal and never question it

or are able to view it with a sense of distance - not until we are adults.

In my earliest years I was saturated in a feeling of being different due to

walking funnily. There's real work to do isn't there when as an adult with

finally a correct explanation you have to reinterpret your life again from

scratch. It takes a lot of work.

I've learnt a lot and grown a lot from Cognitive Pyschology, where the idea

is to correct your beliefs about life, the universe and everything and make

them rational. As a child I often felt very different from my peers. As an

adult I need to undo my belief that I am inherently different. It's taken a

bit of work but has been very rewarding!

I certainly feel very fortunate that I was diagnosed as young as I was. Our

GP smelt a rat and sent me off to see a specialist. Problem solved! It would

have made adolescence that much harder if I had had no explanation for it

all.

Steve
