Guest guest
Hi Candy, Just some thoughts after reading your reply. As children we soak in what's around as what is normal and never question it or are able to view it with a sense of distance - not until we are adults. In my earliest years I was saturated in a feeling of being different due to walking funnily. There's real work to do isn't there when as an adult with finally a correct explanation you have to reinterpret your life again from scratch. It takes a lot of work. I've learnt a lot and grown a lot from Cognitive Pyschology, where the idea is to correct your beliefs about life, the universe and everything and make them rational. As a child I often felt very different from my peers. As an adult I need to undo my belief that I am inherently different. It's taken a bit of work but has been very rewarding! I certainly feel very fortunate that I was diagnosed as young as I was. Our GP smelt a rat and sent me off to see a specialist. Problem solved! It would have made adolescence that much harder if I had had no explanation for it all. Steve
