Guest guest
My parents encouraged my sister and I to do what we wanted. At times we didn't want to participate, but other times we wanted so desperately to. The kids on our block would come over and if we didn't want to go out and play, in they came and played inside. And if we wanted to mope around, or well, out the door we were made to go. It worked. Even though days back then had some limitations, I had a great childhood. Thanks to my parents. And believe me all I ever wanted to do was ice skate and roller skate. Both were impossible, but I got the skates and dad helped us build our skating pond in the back yard. Skates on, ankles leaning inward and off I went skating or I should say trying with my skates almost on their sides. Oh how my ankles hurt, even wraped them in leather strips and tied them up, but to no avail. Roller skating, well that wasn't the best either, but we went out and had fun anyways. On off days encourage him, it wont work all the time, but keep supporting and dont overdo it, because that well just make him a little more stuborn about it all. Oh and one last important memory I have, Baseball. I couldnt hit the ball and run. Oh to run, that was not good, I couldnt run to save my life. But I sure could hit the ball. So I became the pitch hitter in the neighbor hood and in elementary school. Sure I took a lot of ribbing growing up, but I have even more fond memories doing it.
