Guest guest Posted January 5, 2005 Report Share Posted January 5, 2005 PM to head National Council on AIDS Press Trust of India New Delhi, January 5, 2005 | 21:09 IST Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will head the National Council on AIDS, the highest policy making body in the AIDS control effort, according to an announcement in New Delhi on Wednesday. This is expected to bring about necessary inter-sectoral coordination in the campaign against AIDS, making it more effective, a PMO spokesman said. A request to the Prime Minister for heading the Council was made by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, he said. The UPA Government's National Common Minimum Programme states that the National AIDS control effort would be provided leadership at the highest level.
