Guest guest Posted January 8, 2005 Report Share Posted January 8, 2005 Meet on AIDS research at,Chandigarh,PGI on January 10 Express News Service Chandigarh, January 7: Under the Indo-US Continued Medical Education (CME) on HIV/AIDS, a two-day symposium on " Recent Advances in AIDS Research " is being organised at PGIMER, Chandigarh, on January 10. The programme is part of the AIDS International Training and Research Programme (AITRP) and is being sponsored by the Fogarty International Centre at the National Institute of Health, land, USA. On Day One, several issues related to HIV/AIDS that are of interest to the general public and medical personnel will be discussed. This will include prevalence of the disease in India, its diagnosis, clinical presentation, treatment, occupational exposure and specific issues related to TB in HIV infected patients. On Day Two, the speakers will focus on recent advances in AIDS research such as the control of the disease by helper T cells and antibodies, HIV vaccine development and TB co-infection. The panel will also discuss the advances made in the field of early diagnosis of the disease.
