Guest guest
I am currently taking 400mg of neurontin morning and night, also Etodolac (generic for Lodine) 500 mg twice a day, 10,000 mg Vit. C at night and 2 Tylenol PM at night. Just saw My Neurologist and he is OK with this regimen. Oh also 60 Mg of Inderal for the Rousy-Levy tremors which stopped the day after I started taking it a year ago. My pain level has decreased considerably since starting the Vit. C about a month ago. Sleep well. In OK
Guest guest
I have been taking Neurontin-only 600mg. at night, also 50mg. Ultram. Which with the combined I find that it really helps me at bedtime. Infact, when I forget to take it, I can't stop the twitching. The Neuro wants me to increase both, but at this point, I'm refusing as I figure that down the road I'll need too. Some nights I do have to get up & take a double dose of each. I have found no side effects to either & can't imagne living without them... Good luck!! Barb/No.Calif.
Guest guest
Hi Janus, I really diagree using neurontin for treatment of bi-polar disorder. I've found it to shift my phases a little to quickly and unsafely. I'm easily angered and have found I can go into violent rages. I've not had this problem with SRRI class of antidepressants. This is my two cents I'm certain sure my cases is different, so people can't take my word on it. I hate neurontin, I've found it side effects are to great, and it did not work for pain, so as a effective treatment for my bi-polar disorder it's not even something I'd ever agree to do. It's my body.
Guest guest
Neurontin was originally used for seizures. It was also discovered to help shingles. For me the tingling and numbness also come with daggers and blow torches to the lower legs and feet, ditto arms and hands. I also have pains that feel like someone has a pair of needle nose pliers inside the joints of my hands and feet. Neurontin helps greatly and if I go to long without it the pains come back. It is really hard to explain how your extremities are so dead, but hurt so bad. michael
Guest guest
Hi Rob: There is, and has been a great deal of information available about Neurontin (Gabapentin) among this group over the time I signed on to . It has helped some of us and not others. Why, I don't know. I can only tell you my experience, which has been very positive. I do not have any side affects, although there can be many, just like any drug. I monitor my pain on an on-going basis, and I have had to increase my dosage over time. This was told to me from the very start by my neurologist. I was told, that if necessary, over the next 15-20 years, I could use a maximum of 5400mg a day. Some people say it may make them sleepy. That has not happened to me. But I do get sleepy, and that is natural when your body is fighting pain 24/7. I now take 700mg of Neurontin 3 times a day. Elavil (Amitriptyline) is an antidepressant. However, I take 50mg of Elavil along with 700mg of Neurontin at bedtime each night. My neurologist prescribed this " cocktail " to relieve the burning sensation in my feet. Again, this works for me. Neurontin will not help with other types of pain such as a headache or sore muscles. Neurontin was originally prescribed for epilepsy. However there were several " off-label " uses prescribed by doctors, based on marketing info. from the manufacturer at the time. Neurontin has been approved by the FDA for neuropathic pain. That is what we have. I don't recall how it actually works in the Peripheral Nervous System, and the brain to reduce pain, but I know it does. Gretchen posted a website on 8/17/04 which has a lot of good information on Neurontin. It is: http://home.tampabay.rr.com/lymecfs/nfaq.htm If the website info did not get through to you - you can email me directly at dgbeckingham@... and I can send it to you. Guest guest
Hi Gail, I was just reading my pill book about neurontin, do you have seizures? I'm just curious if that's what might start happening to me. When I looked it up, that's what it sounds like it's for. I'm sorry if I sound stupid, I had a problem the other night driving home, and wondering if that's what happened to me. Thanks,
