Marilyn -------------------------------------------------- Okay, since when coconuts have saturated fat in them? THAT is the only reason they should have 'reduced fat' on the package; the fact that the product has SATURATED fats. Coconuts have coconut OIL in them..which is NOT a saturated fat..and its good for you. Thing is, advertisers will slap ANYTHING on a package that 'sounds good' to the consumer because of the scares on certain foods that the 'food police' have come up with to try to scare people into being 'healthy'...its all hype hype hype...and I am stopping there...*LOL* If the way the cocnut was processed took out a lot of the oil, then, no, the packaged coconut was not worth buying. I mean, is it, or is it not the reason we all are making kefir and using it in our diets to be healthier and to not be ill? Isn't that what we want? So that we reduce the pharmecueticals we are on for our health issues and to eventually be in such good health that we need very very little in the way of any medicines anyway? Anyway, I also avoid anything that is reduced-fat-or-calorie-anything...I deal with fibro-myalgia and IBS issues, as well as osteo-arthritis and a few other issues, and I am managing things well with supplements and diet. All those artificial sweetners and other things they add to foods to make them more palatable because they have taken out the stuff that made that food what it was to begin with plays HECK with the fibro and the IBS and, in turn, with the arthritis...so I watch what I eat, and fix everything I can from scratch and I feel better and do better. And who knows what weird things those odd-ball chemicals are doing top our bodies to begin with? I say we just keep on keepin' on...*LOL* Okay, off my rambling soap box for now -- Kim
Guest guest
I so agree with you, Kim. I also have issues with chronic pain that are quite severe and were literally disabling at one point. I stay almost entirely away from processed foods and ESPECIALLY foods that are unnaturally low fat and low calorie...and wow, what a difference it makes in my body! If I get busy and go a day eating processed food, I feel it sooo bad...aches and pain and joint inflammation. And if I go a while without kefir, the change for the worse in my digestion happens pretty quick. I used to require so many pain medications and medications to control my digestive issues. I have been able to completely stop taking medications for my digestion issues, and I only take about 25% of the pain control meds that I used to (and am in less pain than when I took 4 times as much). By the way, have you tried consuming red pepper and foods like that with anti-inflammatory properties? I have discovered this to help substantially with chronic pain...I make a smoothie that isn't the tastiest (ha), but I've gotten used to it. It has a lot of fresh red pepper in it, and if I drink it every day, it makes a very big difference in my pain level. > > One comment on what is said below...Coconut oil is all saturated fat but it is a short chain (as is butter) so it is good for you. > > Marilyn > > -------------------------------------------------- > > Okay, since when coconuts have saturated fat in them?
