Guest guest
Have not had a yeast infection in 10 years. I've been drinking kefir for several months and now have an infection. I know my homemade kefir has yeast because I can smell it but I thought it was a different kind of yeast. Any thoughts? Patty H.
Guest guest
All of us have this kind of yeast in our bodies. Fortunately, we also have bacteria that keeps the levels in check along with our immune system. This is why women often get yeast infections after taking an antibiotic. Because the antibiotics wipe out our friendly bacteria as well, allowing the candida to grow at will. If you have a yeast infection, it is not because you got the " bad yeast " in your body because it's always there. Something is either causing you to have more than your body's bacteria and immune system can handle or you are experience a weakened immune system or a decrease in your body's friendly bacteria. It could be that the kefir contributed to this, but the body adjusts. I've actually only had a yeast infection twice in my life until I started drinking kefir just under a year ago...I've had 3 infections since then. However, I only required treatment the first time. The other 2 times, it very quickly went away on its own, even faster than medical treatment would have been able to. And the symptoms were very, very mild and not particularly bothersome...just enough for me to know I had one. So, your body does adjust and takes care of things if you give it some time. > > Have not had a yeast infection in 10 years. I've been drinking kefir for several months and now have an infection. Guest guest
Thanks . I'm on medication and off the Kefir until I figure this out. I think I've been eating too much sugar making all the lovely Kefir Smoothies! Sugar feeds the little beasts! Patty H.
