Guest guest
I think I've " lost " the kefiran. Here is a short of what happened. I had frozen some MKG for about 3 months. I decided to take them out and see if they would reactivate. They reactivated fine and are multiplying nicely but with no obvious kefiran. Then I tried to re-innoculate them with grains that were fully " kefiraned " wonderfully slimy and gooey. It seemed ok but not really adhering to the pre-frozen grains as well as I would have liked. I then decided to combine them all into one group to see if the kefiran would grow. The opposite has happened. The good and slimy grains have now become not slimy and much more like the pre-frozen grains. They all have good growth but they are now not slimy and break apart much easier.Much more like water kefir but still clumpier. I think I goofed. I think I may need to get some new grains and feed the other to the animals or dry it and use it like feta. As an aside, I still have a kefir. Tastes fine. Just no obvious kefiran. Any thoughts?
