Guest guest
Hi , I have just started using rice kefir milk made from milk kefir grains. I am so reluctant to try the milk kefir becasue I have gotten so sick from milk in the past. So very recently I started making rice kefir milk. I use MKG for 24 hours in rice milk, then put those grains back into my milk with other MKG. I guess MKG pooper out if not used in milk to revamp them. For me it is a long story but I will make it short. After surgery for a broken wrist I developed digestive system health issuess which I know came from the antibotics I was forced to go on with my surgery, both oral and IV. The rice kefir is helping me already in digestive system problems and headaches that are realated to this problem. It has only been a week now since starting this rice kefir. My goal is to find some raw goat's milk but it is not easy where I live. On the other hand, I have a dog who had a fistula, about as big as a marble but stubborn in that it frequently would bleed and swell bigger. My vet told me it would slowly (or quickly) continue to grow, nothing could be done other than surgery and that would not fix it since it would come back. I started feeding all my dogs some kefir milk made from whole raw milk. That was over a year ago. I noticed recently that the fistula on this dog is gone and I can only attribute it to the daily milk kefir. That is the only thing I changed in the dog's diet. I got so used to seeing this dog link and link 'back there' and one day it dawned on me that he was not licking there anymore. So I took and look and this ugly red glob is gone. I must also add that my dogs' fur has never been as shinny and soft and beautiful as it is now after being on daily milk kefir for a good year. Now I am going to continue with rice kefir milk with the hope of some day using cow's milk or work hard to get goat's milk Alice >I have read a lot of things that kefir is supposed to be good for, but > not actually read much in the way of testimonials. Guest guest
Thanks for that Alice. Speaking of rice kefir milk, I just came across some information concerning a 'rice kefiran' which is supposed to have good qualities. It seems to be make from rice itself but using MKG.. http://www.jafra.gr.jp/eng/kfr1.html http://www.daiwa-pharm.com/eng/m-k2e.swf http://www.daiwa-pharm.com/eng/m-k1e.swf - > > On 5/1/2012 3:02 PM, Alice Connell wrote: >> Hi , >> >> I have just started using rice kefir milk made from milk kefir >> grains. Guest guest
We've done lots of probiotics, for at least 4+ years, digestive enzymes for 1+years, raw dairy products ie yogurt, etc (we have a Jersey and a LaMancha), plus a specialized diet that doesn't include processed or foods with additives that are 90% purchased or grown on our farm organic. So, that's for background on how we eat. We started the raw milk kefir, daily, about 6-8 weeks ago. I had a healing crisis that included much stinky gas, some loose stool, stomach aches that were not gas related. DD same, DMom same, DH nothing unusual, dogs, same as humans. Results: dogs: (about 4oz each) are more playful, reddish, itchy skin patches clearing up, less scratching: the collie has digestive issues resulting in accidents and mucousy stools and they seem to be MUCH better. Same dog food for years. me: (12ish oz/day) my " ruddy " complexion is much more like when I was in my 30s (20ish years ago),that means less ruddy, a bit of excema type rough elbows and chin patch almost gone, smoother, clearer, maybe less wrinkled skin on the face (or maybe wishful thinking for the wrinkles part), maybe my hair is a bit less gray (I don't have lots but certainly turning that way, again wishful thinking?); caratoids (I think that's what the rough, dry, flat, small spots of flesh color on skin are called)seem to be disappearing (no, not warts and not the liver/freckle colored age spots) DH: (8oz/day) adult acne almost gone, less ruddy complexion, no GERDs, nothing else he has reported or I've noticed DD: (4oz/day)less reflux (food related), easier bowel movements, pre-pubescent blackheads are lessening DMom: (8oz/day) lessening IBS and healing crisis lessening (ie gas, etc) Our dosage is not weight or age related. It's what each of us prefers. I am hoping to up DD's dose and now that DMom is over the crisis she will up her own according to her needs. Not sure if I can get DH to slow down enough to up his. So, I would say that in the short-term we have seen much improvement dermatologically and digestively. I'm very interested in this thread and what others who have been doing this for a few years see, as their healing is farther along. Thanks Baily, for doing this and thank all of you who have responded. Guest guest
Hi Al, Thanks for the site. I found some goat milk but it is some 3 hours away. I am thinking of getting some though, and freezing it in small amounts and thaw as I make kefir. I am also thinking of mixing some goat milk with rice milk to stretch it so it lasts longer. I am doing quite well with the rice milk kefir but I think a dairy milk would make more probiotics. Alice Hi Alice, I don't know if you've seen this website, but you may be able to find raw milk near you. http://www.realmilk.com/where09.html Al -----
Guest guest
Thank you so much for this! It makes me realize that my rice kefir milk is pretty good for probiotic. Guest guest
I have frozen raw milk in my freezer right now. As far as drinking, it tastes the same but the bits of fat are a little separated but I think the probiotics are still there. I have not tried making kefir with this frozen milk yet.
