Guest guest
- I agree with Fred. When I got my replacement device, I experienced the same thing as you did. The EP said it was a trade off between battery life and overdrive pacing. The first ICD only lasted 3 years because it paced 99% of the time (I have chronic bigeminy and frequent v-tachs). The replacement was adjusted to pace less but last longer. He said if it makes me uncomfortable he would adjust it. My doc is very accommodating because his focus is on the patient so I decided not to adjust the settings. The heart does feel more "trembly" than before but the EP assured me that it was benign. Also, on the last visit, he said that it looks like I won't need that heart transplant any time soon. Great news! I prefer keeping my own. The doc says to get more exercise so I go out walking a lot--at the beach, at a local college, visit art galleries and museums. In addition to the exercise, I also get some fresh air, some sun (when it breaks through the clouds). Re: question Mike, That is great news!!!! Guest guest
Well, coming to the Portland metro area may not do anything for you if your looking for an "easier life." The number of DC's per capita is second only to san francisco I believe and the prices of homes are getting way out of hand. (Partially being driven up by californians cashing in on their homes down there and then moving here to live the "easy life". making it hard for people just starting out here to make it. Climate: Rain, Rain, Rain, Clouds, Rain and Rain ..................................... Good cities? They are all good. Not too many with 100k or above though, but population doesn't tell the story. Also, you would have to go through oregon licensure, which includes more courses on Minor surgery, Proctology and OBGYN, before you can take the state test. Have you changed your mind yet? Sounds like you may need to research a bit more. After 20 years in the Bay, it would be a shock up here if you were'nt prepared and well versed on what you would be getting yourself and your family into. I don't want to sound too negative here, but want to be realistic. The Buzz down there is "Lets cash in and move to Oregon". What I don't understand, is why they just don't move to northern california, Eureka, Humbolt county, Chico etc. etc. Cheaper realstate etc. Now, I've wasted way too much time on a Californian haven't I? LOL!! Hope this helps, Dr. ph Medlin DC 1627 NE Alberta st. STE6 Portland, OR, 97211 Question Hi, I'm a DC in the SF Bay Area and after 20 years, my wife and I are about to sell the practice and relocate. We'd like an easier life, the Bay area is just too expensive and too crazy. My questions? Whats the climate like for a DC in Oregon? Any good cities or towns in the 100K..maybe above? I know that any place on the map can use another Dc, we certainly don't have enough of us seeing enough people. Thanks for any info you can give. Gene , D.C,OregonDCs rules:1. Guest guest
Gene, Keep in mind that not even 10% of the population uses chiropractic. If we educate that other 90% about the benefits of chiropractic we would all have a waiting list. Why is it that two DCs can open in the same town and one is madly successful and the other is hardly able to make ends meet. There will be plenty of people that tell you that you can't make it here, but my advice to you would be not listen. I know a DC that did the same thing you're thinking about. Moved his practice to Oregon from California. He heard all the horror stories about how bad things are here. In a short time his has built a successful practice. The first thing you need to decide is where you want to be. The second thing you do is go there. No matter how successful you are, you will not be happy if you don't like where you live. I speak from experience, I lived in Dallas, TX for a year (too long). There are a lot of DCs treating hundreds of patients a week in Dallas, but I couldn't do it. Guest guest
Gene; Boy, I have to agree with you. I wouldn't locate here either after reading those posts. OOPS, I was born and raised here so this was not a choice. I love it here, we have great springs and most summers are great weather if you like it nice and warm. It does rain here, but how else would we have the beautiful green forrests and grassy look? Beats the brown of southern California and the SW USA. Don't you think? I have raised 3 children in Albany, and all of them turned out great I think. Great state to raise your kids. No matter where you go you will have to struggle a bit to get started, but if you have a good mental outlook, Oregon, yes even Oregon, can be a great place to practice. Welcome!! Guest guest
Hello Tommy DS is in 4th grade. He goes to the regular class and also special ed. Every year they have a play called the Wizard of Oz and his regular 4th grade class goes there on a field trip. I have gone with Tommy every year and its a fight. He hates it. The teacher told me if I didn't think Tommy would enjoy it or won't to go I could keep him home that day. My question is would it be wrong for me to keep him home or should I send him with the other 4 th graders who probably don't like it either but are having to go. Should I single him out like that. He doesn't like it because its really loud. Please let me know what you think. Thanks Kennedy mom to Tommy age

Guest guest
Hi , I would say this is one of these times which is about you - if it suits you and you are happy to have Tommy home keep him home if you don't agree with him being home or you have something else send him - after all it is a school excursion and it is the teachers job to care for Tommy. the teacher is thinking about herself when suggesting you may like to keep him home. Guest guest
(is your middle name also Sue? - if so, it's a great name, huh?) If Tommy does not do well, then he should not go to the play, but he shouldn't be kept home, either. I would ask the school what they have in place for him that day when his NDA peers are on the fieldtrip. If Tommy had gone before and doesn't enjoy it due to noise, ear plugs may help- or even a DVD or CD player with headphones. This is a call you'll have to make - but the school should have another option to meet his needs. Re: Question > Hello > Tommy DS is in 4th grade. Guest guest
I'd say if Tommy hates it, why put him through it? But why keep him home? When schools have holiday parties that not all families participate in, they find alternative activities for them. Why can't they find something for him to do at school that day? Guest guest
Oh, , I'm sorry. I had shingles in 6th grade. I was struggling at a new school and under a lot of stress, too. Mine appeared on just under my shoulder blade, where my bra hit. There was pain and itching, I remember that. I was out of school for 2 full weeks, and got B12 shots every day (I'm not sure what that was for, but looking back, it seems like a good idea.) It finally ran its course. The doctor who delivered me prescribed the B12. He was a good doctor who looked for natural remedies if possible. I hope you're feeling better soon. Melinda ) question Hi everyone, I have a question. Have any of you ever had shingles before? I'm not sure I have them as I have not been to a dr. but am pretty sure due to some stress I have been under. I just don't know the best way to treat them and hat to have to go to a dr if they can be treated some other way. Any help would be greatly appreciated. They have chosen to apprear on my right cheek (and I don't mean face) LOL!!! and I can hardly sit down or lay down they hurt so bad. By the way I did 60 LL breaths today. Guest guest
Hi , For what it's worth -- both my mother and husband have had shingles -- both went to the doctor -- and nothing but time seemed to have helped.... Though if it happened now, I think I would try patting on some of the comfrey/aloe gel -- it just might help. Someone else mentioned B-12 -- can't possibly hurt, and maybe also put some on topically.... Mom had them across her chest/back -- couldn't wear underclothing for a few weeks -- I made her some very loose spandex (i.e., super-stretchy) long dresses with no seams that hit the affected areas -- that's all she could wear. My husband had shingles on one hand -- came close to driving him crazy -- but the doctor was of no help. Neither my mother nor my husband were under any undue stress -- at least nothing that they were aware of -- at the time they got shingles! I'll send on anything my husband may have to add -- he's not answering his email right now.... Bonnie question Hi everyone, I have a question. Have any of you ever had shingles before?
