I kept my grains in the fridge for almost a year. When I went back in to make more Kefir, they were gone. Dissolved away. In a last ditch effort I added a quart of organic whole milk to my cup of VERY fermented kefir (no grains mind you) A day later I had 3 Tablespoons of fat healthy grains. Like magic!
