Dear ,

Until just recently, it was all about kefir here. Wonderful information. No

need to unsubscribe just yet if I can get this group back on course. It is

all about respect.

I just deleted 11 out of 13 posts due to being off topic. Not everyone is

on moderation and I don't have time to constantly baby sit, that is to put

everyone on moderation because some people have no respect for my simple

posting guidelines.

For those who think to continue off topic posts is okay...People are

starting to unsubscribe. You are wrecking this forum. I set up an off topic

forum so you can talk about anything you want. I do the best I can.

Kenny buddy,

Get a threaded news reader so you can just delete a threat(topic) if you

don't like it.

Also, do you often go to a family bbq and tell everyone you hate what they

are cooking? That's pretty much what you just did " hi everyone, I don't

like what you're talking about " .

I also don't want to waste my time reading posts from newbies that just

whine. Oh, wait, I'll just delete your post once I'm done making my point.

Point taken?

Leo,

You are on moderation. What has what you just said got to do with kefir?

Nothing. You are one of those with no respect for my simple posting

guidelines. You make more work for me.

Thanks,

Marilyn

Hi ,

This group has pretty much stuck with the topic of kefir since I joined a

couple of years ago. It's only been going all over the place like this

within the last few weeks. I hope things settle back to normal soon, since

there is a separate group specifically for the off topic discussions.

Is there something in particular you want to know about making milk kefir?

Here is a video demo ~ 8 minutes showing a method of preparing kefir by the

quart.

Here is a video demo ~ 4 minutes showing a method of preparing kefir by the

glass.

Frequent off-topic discussions?

Hello all,

I joined this group yesterday to learn about kefir, and

perhaps to find someone to send me some starter milk grains.

But now I'm not so sure I have the time to be here ...

This morning I found 30+ posts in my inbox!

I appreciate the fact that this group is very active, but at

the same time I am not in any way interested in Dr. Oz or

body odor or parents vaccinating kids or pertussis epidemics

or microwave ovens or ddt exposure.

How frequently do these off-topic discussions go on here? Is

the drift from on-topic kefir to all these off-topic issues a

common occurrence? Or is this an unusual situation for this

group?

I have no desire to disrupt the natural behavior of this

group so if " this is how it is " on a regular basis do you

think I should just ask if there's anyone who might send me

some milk grains to get started with, and then unsubscribe?

For the time being I just want to learn about kefir and get

started -- without disturbing anyone in this group, and

without going through so many posts in order to find a tidbit

of milk kefir information now and then.

Sincerely,

Grome

Kefir by its nature (probiotics) will tend to lead to numerous sub-topics IMO.

I am also a newbie, waiting anxiously for my delivery of my heat-stressed little

grains to arrive. Think they'll end up like little white raisins - I am in

Phoenix.

Leo - where's a " threaded Newsreader " thx.

I am not sure what a threaded news reader is ... but my guess is it is

something like the gmail option to keep threads/subjects together. So

for me as long as the subject stays the same the emails are stacked

together. I find it extremely useful and use gmail for any groups I

am part of.

Another trick is to switch to web only. I have a lot of groups I am

part of on a web only basis. That way I can log in on the

groups page and search the group's files, emails, etc, but do not get

daily emails. A few of the groups were known for generating a 100 or

more emails a day and even with grouped conversations that was just

too much for me. But the information available there was and is still

of value and I wanted to maintain the ability to access it if I needed

to. That is a way to do so but not get flooded with emails.

Rick,

sorry, I meant threaded mail reader. Gmail does that, as well as Mac mail

(now known as me.com)

Please let me know how quicky your grains respond to their travel stress.

Marilyn, thanks for the support. I sincerely appreciate the

amount of time you spend trying to keep a few people from

ruining it for everyone else. Creating a separate forum for

off-topic discussions was a great idea.

, I have read some online information about making kefir

so I understand the basics. Then I watched the two videos

you suggested. I may have questions later, but for now I'm

just hoping to pick up a few tidbits of info from the

discussions in this group as I proceed to the starting line.

:)

Sincerely,

Grome
