Guest guest
> If I down a protein bar after weights, how long should I wait to do > the remaining carb? After weights, immediately eat a protein-only meal, maybe with a little fat as well, believe it or not. That's usually when I have a protein shake including 2 tablespoons of Udo's Ultimate Blend oil. After a *cardio* workout, however, I'd wait for an hour - but still make that first meal a protein-only one. > Are there any store bought soups that are acceptable? I love soup, > how about some good recipes? Good question. I wonder if 's Healthy Choice is good? Probably more carbs than protein, but I know it's low-fat. > On the morning of my cardio, I drink my water before, any special > supps that should be taken before cardio? Cup of coffee might help you as well, cuz caffeine's a fat mobilizer (unless you just wanna take caffeine pills, but that's more expensive). Guest guest
Andy, Don't take Udo's in your post work-out shake. Your body will spend more time processing the oil than the protein. You should also incorporate high glycemic carbs into your post-workout nutrition. You need to shut down cortisol hard, spike insulin, and trigger muscle synthesis as quickly as possible. After cardio, still add carbs, but simple. You still need to shut down cortisol, elevate your insulin levels to feed the muscles and prevent muscle wasting. Guest guest
Greetings, a, nice to have another nurse on board. > How many egg whites for one portion? Depends upon how many grams of protein you need for that meal. Take your daily amount of protein and divide it by six. > Which stores carry the whole wheat tortillas? I shop for those at a natural food grocery store. > When should I take the Betagen? the CLA? Directions for BetaGen are 3 times a day. Definantly post-workout and before bed. Can't help with CLA ( I don't use that). > If I down a protein bar after weights, how long should I wait to do > the remaining carb? You should consume a protein with a carb post workout. > Are there any store bought soups that are acceptable? I love soup, > how about some good recipes? I don't know much about store bought soups. That's something I just don't buy, but you can find a bunch of recipes at the Body for Life website and in each Muscle Media. > On the morning of my cardio, I drink my water before, any special > supps that should be taken before cardio? I drink a cup of coffee. Some people take Phen-Free, or some other type of fat burners. Basically those are ECA stacks. Guest guest
Thanks Glenda, You seem very knowledgable on this stuff. How long have you been doing it? Have you had good results? Any particular thing that works for you? I'm on day 18, I feel stronger, more energy, but no changes in the old bod yet. Regarding coffee before cardio, there's no way I can do it before, it's enough to just crawl out of bed and get on the treadmill. But I'll try it on saturday. Do you use betagen? Does it matter if I take it before or after my cardio? I usually take a dose first thing with my first water, so I'm definitely getting it before my weights. I'm just wondering mostly about the timings of all these supps, and to get it straight. There are many varieties of rationals as to when to take them, etc. Thanks for all you help. a > Greetings, a, nice to have another nurse on board. > > How many egg whites for one portion? > > Depends upon how many grams of protein you need for that meal. Guest guest
I've been at this for over 40 weeks now. I had great results the first challenge, lost 12% body fat. But the 2nd challenge was a bust. I tweaked and well, it just didn't work. Totally, I've lost 73 lbs of fat and gained 27 lbs of muscle. I hope to reach my goal by the end of this next challenge. I did try BetaGen during this 2nd challenge. I didn't notice any difference in muscle soreness if I used it or not. I had great strength gains, but I can't attribute this to BetaGen because I rarely took the stuff. I tried to take it before I lifted, but I got nauseous every time. I hope you have better luck with it than I did. I know some people swear by it. Good luck in your endeavors. What are your goals for this challenge? I haven't worked on all of mine yet, but I do plan on pushing 800 lbs on the leg press this challenge. Glenda > Thanks Glenda, > > You seem very knowledgable on this stuff. Guest guest
> Are there any store bought soups that are acceptable? I love soup, > how about some good recipes? > I use some Progresso soups: Roasted Chicken w/ Wild Rice Hearty Chicken & Rotini others These are generally 6-9 protein and 10-12 carbs and 1-2 grams of fat per serving with 2 servings/can. I add a 1/2 can or can (5oz) of low fat chicken breast and this makes this a fairly equally weighted BFL meal. 1 Can of soup + 1 can of chicken Food Protein Carb Fat Soup 18 24 3 Chicken 30 0 2 Calories=330 total This leans more toward protein, but if you want it more equal, just use 1/2 a can of the chicken. Guest guest
Yes, 800lbs! I can't let Kit push more weight than I can and he's already ahead of me! Aren't you at like 1000 lbs my friend???? My last LBW of this last challenge I pushed 650lbs. My goal was 500. Strength wise, I made all my goals except 10 unassisted chin ups and hanging knee raises. My abs just aren't ready for that one. Seriously, I am now down to 24% from an all time high of 41%. Yuck! I put on 75 lbs in three months and nobody could figure out why. Long story, it ended up to be the big C. I'd like to get to 12%. I was once 7% and when I met my husband, I could bench press double my body weight. Boy have I got a long way to go with that one. I have no plans on getting to single digits every again. If I've done my calculations correct, I have less than 40 lbs to go! The pressure is on ( from myself) to really make it this time.
