Hi ,

I use about 1-2 tablespoons to about a qt of milk. That usually works well

for a 24 hour sit, sometimes 36 hours.

,

Most people's grains seem to be just a little different. Some grains may have

different strains of bacteria and yeast and therefore, require different amounts

of grains to culture the same amount of milk. Mine only require 1 heaping TSP

per qt for 48 hours (when it's not hot out) and 1 Heaping TBS for 1/2 gallon

every 48 hours. That is why some people say 1/2 cup and some in the tsp.

How much to start with?

Hello all,

I'm looking forward to culturing my own milk kefir drink when

I get some starter grains ... but what volume of grains

should I start with?

Would you recommend starting with a certain minimum such as

1/4 cup, or 1-2 tablespoons, or 1-2 teaspoons, or perhaps as

little as a fraction of a teaspoon?

Sincerely,

Grome
