Soooo.....

 

I had someone who wanted grains from me make a typo in their address so when I

mailed the water and milk grains all the way to Hawaii they did not get

delivered and made the long trip back to CA.  I expected everything to look

gross and dead when I opened the package, but surprisingly all the grains, both

water and milk, looked fine and it's been a week and a half in probably pretty

warm conditions.

 

I always wondered what the grains looked like on the other end as I have been

able to find local grains and never had them shipped to me.  Now I know.... lol.

I've had fresh milk kefir grains go literally around the world getting back

to me in six weeks. They smelled awful but I did an experiment. Rinsed them

off and gave them milk. Next day it was so bad the dog wouldn't eat it.

Gave it another try. That batch was good enough for the dog and the next

one good enough for us. They were growing well by the end of the week.
