Guest guest
Hi all I'm currently working in Kosova and have daily contact with various UN based/financed humanitarian organisations, such as the UN Mine Action Co-ordination Centre. One of the things that confuses me is when they ask " what level of medic are you? " . With the North American personnel they have the impression that a Level One Medic (whatever that is) is the lowest form of life and that a Level Five is the greatest thing since sliced bread to hit the streets. The Australasian personnel are of the opposite opinion and consider only Level One medics worth talking to. Unfortunately none of those I have spoken to can show me a list of the required qualifications, or experience, for each level. Does anyone have a definitive listing which shows what constitutes a Level One Medic up to Level Five (or whatever way it is) ?? Cheers S
Guest guest
, Depending on which country you are in the qualifications vary. Are you referring to nursing qualifications or Emergency medical Services qualifications? The different levels from the ems side start at the emt basic through to Paramedic. Each different level will probably be referred to differently depending where you are in the world. I think what they basically want to know at what level you have been trained at, being the emt or nursing field. i hope this sheds some light on the subject.
