Guest guest
I recently learned that nerve decompression surgery was done on a HMSN type II patient. This is the first time I've heard of nerve decompression surgery. This has lead to some questions: Is nerve decompression surgery appropriate and useful for CMT patients? For diabetic patients some doctors are claiming that nerve decompression surgery can: 1. decrease pain, and/or 2. improve sensory functions, and/or 3. improve motor functions, and/or 4. improve balance. Some doctors are claiming that these benefits of nerve decompression surgery on diabetic patients can extend to CMT patients as well. a. Is this true? b. Has nerve decompression surgery been done on CMT patients? c. Are there any studies of the effects of nerve decompression surgery on CMT patients? d. What are the results of these studies? Have you had, or know of someone who has had, nerve decompression surgery? Do you have any other thoughts or information on nerve decompression surgery? Thanks very much for any information that you have. Bentzin
