Look into this for help with the scooter. I have not used them, but

see their advertisements all over.

I really enjoy your Warm Springs updates. But oh, that sitting around - for 3

years I worked as an extra on " Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman " - and I swear, even for

the scenes I was in, the waiting and sitting around was so boring (for all of

us) - although the cast and crew were great fun.

Every state has an Office of Vocational Rehabilitation that could assist

financially, etc with " things " that you might need to keep you working or to

help you work more independently. Good luck with everything.

I just got my scooter in land from the Department of Rehabilitative

Technology or as they call it here DORS. People that are currently working are

their highest priority. Important to let them know that in order for you to

continue working at the same pace that you have been, you must have the scooter.

They will do a physical evaluation and I am sure you will get approved, that is,

if your state has the money available at this time. While I was waiting for

approval my work situation changed and I started working from home. Thought that

was going to be a problem, but I told them I needed it to go to outside

appointments and to do trade shows and I now have a $3500 scooter here that is

free.

Unfortunately, I have not found the proper transportation that will fit the

scooter and that i feel comfortable driving, but still researching!

Gretchen,

Yes, there is A LOT of sitting around and waiting, but we've been

fortunate to become well associated with the producers, directors,

the cast and crew and we're behind the scenes the majority of the

time watching what's going on even when we're not being used in

those scenes, and that's made a great deal of difference.

We went to a party last night that one of the crew hosted and it may

turn out that we drive home to settle some bills and then come back

down for the remainer of the movie, but we'll know more about that

Sunday or Monday.

When we do get home I'll upload some photos of Geoff and me onto the

website so everyone can take a look and see what we've been up to.

As far as scooters go, I found one online yesterday that was

portable, (can't recall now who made it), and it collapses to put it

in a car trunk easily. It went 8MPH and the battery lasts 20-25

miles. It doesn't appear that there are many portables scooters out

there. Is anyone familiar with these scooters and can give me some

advice on how well they work?

Thanks!

WOW, do not know of too many scooters that go that fast and battery lasts that

long. Mine is a Pride Sundancer scooter and goes 4MPH and battery lasts @ 10

miles. I do know that Porsche made a scooter that goes 8MPH and it was very

expensive. Make sure when they say that the go into a trunk that you get all the

details. Most times you have to disassemble the battery and that can weigh a

lot. If you can find out the name of that scooter i can call my medical supply

rep and ask them about it.
