Guest guest
Hi - My name is Marge, and I've had CMT since I was a child. My parents didn't know what our physical problem was (my 2 brothers and I), and it wasn't until my husband and I took our 4 year old son to Mayo Clinic in 1969 that we discovered the name for our condition. But we still didn't know much about it. Then in the early 1980's Crabtree started a newsletter in Canada, and we were given lots of information. I have never been able to participate in sports, and yet I think I have a mild form of CMT. Although my balance is getting worse, I still walk without aids, I can cook, clean house and garden, and best of all, I have no pain. So many people with CMT have pain! I have never worn AFOs, but I will need them very soon. I heard about a company in England, Dorset Orthopaedic, who make silicone orthotics. Because they are so far away, I do hesitate to order SAFOs from them. I would like feedback from members who may have them. By the way, your Email address and an invitation to join popped into my inbox, and I joined right away. I know it will be very interesting.
