Guest guest
Dear Forum, I come from Muzaffar Nagar district in UP and have been working on HIV/AIDS related issues. Two months back, a person from my village came to meet me and he had been recently diagnosed HIV positive by a blood bank in Muzaffar Nagar. The blood bank, instead of revealing the status to this person, told his relatives and a neighbour about his status. The news spread in the village like any thing and this person was totally depressed and everyone in the village and in relationship knows about his status. So, this incident of a child becoming HIV positive because of the infected blood transfusion not only shows that the infection rate in this part of UP is becoming visible but also that there is urgent need to put proper counseling and testing practices in place in these private and govt blood banks Shadab E-mail: <mshadab@...>
