Guest guest
Dear forum, It is so shocking and disgusting way of getting infected as the one mentioned by Mr. Sanjay Jain. Imagine the plight of the patients seeking help from a doctor and inviting their death as a direct consequence. The blood if collected in the window peirod from the donor might give false negative results.Only testing is hence not adequate. Testing for the HI Virus is the only correct method which should be used by all the blood Banks. The patients will have to bear the cost of the test. In fact we have got one boy of 15 yrs as terminally ill AIDS pt who while on chemotherapy for AML recieved several Bd transfusions in a private Nursing home in Mumbai 8 yrs back. He is brought to our hospise in unconsious state. The boy has been was a topper in his class, has received a Trophy as the Cptain of his football team. As he waits to die,he has put a BIG question to all of us-the medical fraternity. How many innocents have to fall prey to such horryfing mistakes? Guest guest
Dear Mr. Shadam and the Forum members, It's true that the infection is slowly percolating in the rural India. The idea of pooling funds and efforts for high prevalent carries this disadvantage. UP State especially Western part of it has got higher possibility of 'silent prevalence' of the virus in the absence of the testing and counseling facilities. Recent reports in the leading newspaper have revealed the vulnerability of the people living in this region. I strongly feel that this is the right time to start intervention in this part of the country before it becomes the high prevalent state. Or are we waiting for the time when it becomes the 7th high prevalent state of the country to draw the attention of the funding agencies.
