Guest guest
I have talked to one other person that had CMT on both sides of the family. Just a guess here but was your Dad ever diagnosed with CMT? With all his other medical problems he may have just developed drop foot from something other then CMT. I say this because it was assumed my Dad had CMT because he had 1 symptom. He remained strong as an ox. My sisters do not have CMT and their kids are fine. I do not think he had CMT he just had high arches.
Guest guest
WOW, that is kind of scary. I keep thinking if my son does not get it it dies with me, but i guess there is a liklihood that he could marry someone who carries it. Guest guest
Bob, Yep, it happens. Used to happen more with families who intermarried. But, I am not surprised, with more and more people being diagnosed; I have often thought the statistics on numbers of affected people are way off - and there are many who go through life without a diagnosis, too; many families still don't communicate about hereditary disorders - embarrassment, unimportance, whatever. Let's hope genetic testing becomes more widely available and arrestment of CMT is finally a reality. Gretchen
