Guest guest
Are any other N Sea Medics currently involved in the Arklone/Perklone switch, from a COSHH point of view? (Standard solvent for oil-in- water determination used to be Arklone, which has been banned under European legislation because it is an ozone depleter. Substitute is Perklone, which is a class 3 carcinogen.) I have a feeling that we have been presented with a false dilemma, and that other solvents, or completely different lab methods, are probably available. What's everybody else doing about it? Any BP medics lurking on the list? Jules Bowman Medic/Safety Marathon Brae A.
Guest guest
Hi Jules BP are also going the TTCE pathway. Tried a number of items on the market but DTI response was the results were not to their satisfaction. All need to ensure their LEV and storage is truly beefed up as per #9 of COSHH. The measuring units to carry out the tests are infracals. ?4.5K each plus peripherals. You need 2 as they are re-calibrated 6 monthly. SGS Redwood have been assisting with the trials.
