Does anybody know what's good for torn ligaments in the ankle? A friend of

mine hurt herself and doctors just want to load her up on pain meds. She

decided not to go the orthopedic guy because all they do is surgery. Any

ideas?

You don't want to hear it, but surgery is what she needs!

DMSO can help with the pain and promote healing, but screwing around could

result in permanent damage!

Hello All,

For inflamation and increased healing time...using those laser pens...can

make a big difference in healing time and reduced pain and inflamation.

This info for ordering was x-posted from another group....also look up

led

light therapy.... people with cold sores / herpec breakout had shorted

exposed

time also reliefed toothaches...list is almost endless.

The Light Shaker is a Red LED. If you followed the posts on Laser's the

35.00$ laser pen puts the Light Shaker to shame (169.00$ ).

Try a 660 nanometer LED from Light Energy Co. at 1-800-LIGHTCO. It regrows

tissue.

How does your friend know the ligaments are actually torn?

Is there joint instability?

First of all, use ice packs on the ankle. Wrap an ice pack with

a bath or kitchen towel and put it on to reduce swelling.

Try taking bromelain on an empty stomach for inflammation.

Is there swelling? Has an x-ray been taken?

Wrap the ankle with an Ace bandage to support it if he is walking

on it.

Go to a chiropractor and get some interferential current therapy.

Dear Elsol,

If your friend does decide to have surgery, make sure she has a competent

surgeon. Personally I think, if possible, avoid it altogether. My sister

tripped and tore the ligaments in her ankle, also. At first she was in a

LOT of pain; but has she healed, she was limping, but better. Doctors

wanted to do surgery to repair the torn ligaments. Did the surgery and

royally messed her up. Now she's developed something called sympathic nerve

disorder (not for sure if that's the correct terminology), and the pain she

is in now is equivalent to that of a cancer patient in the last stage of

cancer. She now has a pump inserted under the skin that pumps out pain

medication continually, plus she wears a morphine patch. This happened 12

years ago. Often she's bedridden and at times suicidal due to so much pain.

Then other times, with the help of the pump, she can get out and around

some. However, being on all those narcotics over the years have taken it's

toil on her. She has to have it for the pain and the doctors do monitor

her, but she's often paranoid. Just not the same person, which drugs will

do. It's kind of like she's damned if she does and damed if she doesn't.

Torn ligaments can be very serious and a competent doctor can do a very nice

job in repairing them and giving the person back their quality of life. But

it they don't do it correctly the patient, unfortunately, pays the price.

Your friend is wise to be cautious.

Sincerely,

Gail

I have this same injury as of 2 weeks ago. Initial treatment is

R.I.C.E. Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. I saw my primary care

physician the first day, she said I had broken all 3 ligaments with

perhaps a fracture. She wrote a prescription for an Air Cast

http://www.aircast.com

and ordered xrays, which showed a hairline fracture of the fibula as

well. I got crutches the first day, iced for 3 days off and on, the

AirCast Splint the second day, and I have not seen an Orhopedic

Surgeon so far. I have also used homeopathic remedies..Arnica,

externally and internally, and have just started Bryonia and Ruta.

The stores here are all out of Rhus Tox, which is also supposed to be

good. Today I ordered some Deep Tissue Repair Oil from Dr Schultze. I

will be using hydrotherapy, alternating hot and cold water soaks and

I am currently looking for a physical therapist to begin

strengthening exercise, of which I ubderstand water walking is among

the best. The pain has not been unbearable and I do sleep with my

foot elevated and keep it elevated at work.

Go see Dr. Kent Pomeroy in Phoenix Arizona, he is the best prolo-therapist

also called sclerotherapy in the country. 1-602-912-4996. If the ligament

is not torn completely away he can fix it.

Hi all............ Note that Dr. Schulze had torn ligaments and did not have

surgery and was able by foods to rebuild them (I think it was) in 90 days.

He now currently holds 2 black belts in the martial arts so is in very fit

condition. If you wish to get info on his building program contact

877-485-5004 (Save Your Life Videos) or 310-453-1987 which is American

Botanical Pharmacy.

The pharmacy is Schulze's sales arm here in the USA.

  • 3 years later...

Hi everyone,

Well now I am sitting here in a partial cast. (Must be something in the

air) I aparently tore some ligaments while wearing my AFOs. Aren't AFOs

supposed to stop that from happening? I was doing good in them for 6 months

now, until yesterday. This just gets very depressing.
