Guest guest
Greetings: I am 34 and have had CMT since a teenager.. I am very envious of those of you in the group that could EVER wear heels! I could never wear heels of any real height and in the past few years I can barely even wear a very small heel (my knees cave in when I wear heels). As a teen, I also practiced in the heels for hours but just looked ridiculous holding walls and stumbling.. Now I often find myself experiencing heel or shoe envy... looking with longing eyes at the women wearing cute flip flops (can't wear those) or heels.. Or seeing the women at church twice my age wearing pumps with two inch or higher heels... I think my inability to wear heels definitely has effected my overall style.. Because I couldn't wear heels I have avoided short shirts, business suits and more " fancy " clothes in favor of more casual clothes that work with my shoes... It may have even effected my career choice - as a Social Worker, I don't have to dress up a lot. I am VERY greatful, however, that I can still walk!! I can even still run short distances, ski and exercise regularly.. I do have a pair of backless shoes I can wear around the house (they only fall off my feet when I walk more than 20 feet or so) .. Just doing that in the house, is a pleasure. When the heel envy starts in on me I remember how glad I am that I can still walk and hope and pray that I'll be able to continue to walk for the foreseeable future.. Peace, Marti
