Guest guest
Question: Can walking up and down stairs be considered as walking up and down hill? Laurie in Sarasota
Guest guest
Laurie, Depending on the length of time walking up and down stairs, there might be a parallel. But walking up steps and down steps uses different muscles than if you are walking say around the neigborhood or on a track. This would be a good question to ask your physical therapist. Or perhaps contact the authors of the study. Gretchen
Guest guest
Laurie, They use different muscles. I was walking uphill on a treadmill and kept tearing my tendons and ligaments. However, at my job I worked on the third floor and walked up and down steps all day and did fine. Jen
