Guest guest
The x-rays will not show everything that could be wrong with your knees. When they have done them on mine, they have said the same thing. I have read in many places that MRI's are a waste alot of the time also, and can alot of times mis-diagnose problems. I too, have had the shots and they were a waste of my time and money. I had the LR done July of 2004, and it made my knee worse. Went to my doc yesterday and he is going to scope it again and try to buy me some time, but ultimately I need a partial if not a total knee replacement. He says that is one reason he is doing the scope. Wants to know what were getting into. I am only 35 and he doesn't want to do the replacement yet but we are out of options and he conferred with many other docs and they all agree this is what we should do. Good luck to you and hope you can find some relief somehow. I sure hope this will help me. I will let ya know. Annette knadn_eh <knadn2@...> wrote: Hi All! I went to my OS this past week because the pain is getting increasingly worse in my right knee and now my left is following suit. The Physican's Assistant did xrays and the right showed not much damage and some softening of the cartilage. She said that it didn't show the amount of damage equal to the pain...I'm not sure what that means!! I'm very limited in my movements, walking is painful, it hurts all the time, and swimming is even a struggle now because getting out of the water is difficult. I have another appt with my actual OS next month and I'm wondering what I should say to him. Should I ask for another MRI to confirm damage? I know that my only remaining option, at 42, is a total knee replacement. The PA suggested trying the shots again in my knee but I'm kinda feeling that that ship has sailed!! Any direction you all could give me would be appreciated. Are x-rays definitive in showing damage? Thanks for listening! Kim
Guest guest
One thing is to wait for the SaluCartilage plugs to be approved in the US. They were approved in Italy and Germany 4 years ago, and in Canada last year. They're made here, but as usual the FDA is dragging its feet. (Just look up SaluCartilage on Google.) I'm going to call the makers to see when they think the plugs will be approved. Ann Re: X-rays...Knee Pain - Don't Jive! The x-rays will not show everything that could be wrong with your knees.
