Guest guest
Welcome Zenaida, thanks for jumping in with your introduction. I too had a muscle biopsy that was normal. A muscle biopsy is a diagnostic tool for many neurological disorders. It does not " diagnose " CMT, but it can show doctors what is going on with muscle and nerve. The EMG test can distinguish the difference from CMT Type 1 and 2. I think you said you had this but don't have the results. You should get a written report of the findings of this test from the Doctor who did it. The conclusions drawn in the test will give you some answers. With some 40 types of CMT known, DNA genetic/blood testing is lagging far behind. Only a handful of these tests are commercially available - if you're interested in having the tests, have your Doctor and lab contact http://athenadiagnostics.com for all the information. But sometimes tests come back inconclusive or negative too. Along with the DNA blood test, your doctor might suggest genetic counseling too, for understanding inheritance patterns, etc. Gretchen
