Guest guest
, Wow, another Santa n! Don't know if you wanted private docs or to go to an MDA clinic, so will try to give you some of each. I only went to one MDA clinic at UCLA once upon a time. Then, my private neurologists were Dr. Carl Vonhagen and Dr. Shaw - in downtown L.A. - near USC. But I think they are retired now. I had a consult in 1998 with Dr. Olmos (see below) when I had back problems - he's trained in both neurology and internal medicine. For that matter, so is Dr. Connor. A friend of mine thinks very highly of Dr. Connor, but I have not personally seen him. If you want a general internist - but a da** good one to start you off, look up Dr. Terry Schaack, at St. 's Medical Plaza at 9675 Brighton Way, Suite 290, B.H. Ca. 90210 PHONE: 310-550-8543 He is a great guy, exceptionally well-trained, very methodical, great personality - listens, responds, can also recommend some of the best neurologists for you, orthopedists, etc., should you need them. I have seen Dr. Shaack for about 10 years - now that I live in SB County, I still check in with him when I need another opinion. I totally respect and TRUST Dr. Schaack. He was the one who turned me on to Stefan Moser, my orthotist at Swiss Balance too. Good place for you to start. Dr. Schaack was the one who ordered my adult baseline EMG - right across the street at Dr. Campion's office and even though that test is pretty bad, Dr. Campion was very caring, compassionate, and sensitive to my needs. His bedside manner is superb. If I ever need another EMG, I'd go back to him. I can relate to your " absence " from the medical establishment. I stayed away from doctors for about 8 years myself. It was only a horrible case of altitude sickness in Wyoming that got me to drag myself into a neurologist's office (of course I thought it was my CMT going drastic on me) That was Dr. Shafer in Wyoming and he turned out to be young and bright and knowledgeable and knew his stuff and at once knew what the problem was. He was the original Dr. who prescribed Elavil for me, and that changed my life! I hope some of this helps. Let me know if you need some more names or anything else. Oh, watch out for those killer parking lots - I swear it is more expensive to pay for parking than to pay the Dr. bill! ~ Gretchen MDA clinic 2800 28th Street #153 Santa , CA 90405 Phone: (310) 450-9032 Fax: (310) 450-8063 E-mail: losangelesmetrodistrict@...
