Guest guest
Greetings to all: I am Laurel, 42, mother of a 3 year old and I have CMT 1A. My daughter does not have CMT. My husband and I went through the pre- implantation diagnosis genetics method and it was a very interesting and rewarding process. My own CMT has been considered " mild " by some doctors - whereas others still doubt I have CMT. (Odd, my blood test was positive for CMT 1A!) There is no family history of CMT in either mine or my husband's lineage. Up until my pregnancy, I worked in News Production for our local ABC affiliate. I took a leave of absence for a year, as I wanted to plan for the birth of our little girl and also to rest and just take some time off. I am back to work now part-time, and plan to return to work full-time when Meagen starts school full-time. The station is very good with flex time/hours for working parents, so I am very blessed. I joined this group because I am especially interested in CMT research and I admire the open access to so much research that the moderator provides. I have lived with my CMT diagnosis since I was 12; short of occassional loss of balance and dropping things (odd how often the kitchen towel ends up on the floor!) I am holding my own. I take Meagan in the stroller for a walk everyday - we usually go about 2 miles and we are also in a Mommy and Me class, enjoying meeting other mothers and children (although I must admit I am older than the " average " mother lol) Thank you for accepting my request to join your group.
