The Untimely Passing of Our President Ann Donovan

New York, February 1, 2005

It is with great sadness that we mourn the untimely passing of our

President Ann Donovan.

In October she spoke with such feeling and eloquence at our

Neuropathy Association Gala, and the next day went to University

Hospital in NY for heart surgery. At the hospital she contracted a

powerful infection and although she fought it valiantly, it finally

overcame her on Sunday.

Ann was a founding member of the Neuropathy Association as well

as our shining light. She took the whole neuropathy family under her

wings, and loved and guided all of us.

We plan to establish an annual award in her memory, to be presented

at the American Academy of Neurology meeting, called the Ann

Donovan Memorial Award for Research in Neuropathy.

She will be sorely missed but will always live on in our hearts.
