Foot position while sleeping

My feet do the same thing. I am in major pain in the mornings. I was told

to wear my AFOs to bed but they are so uncomfortable. I just deal with the

pains in the mornings. Using crutches until I get moving helps also. Once I

am moving I usually leave my crutches somewhere and have to find them at

night.

My feet have a tendency to " point " at night and then, when getting

up, I have to stretch my achilles to get everything moving right.

I've tried sleeping on my stomach with my feet hanging off the end of

the bed and on my side. These don't seem to help much. Does anyone

have any remedies to this minor problem? And I wonder if over time

it will get progressively more difficult to get moving in the morning.

I put a pillow or one of those sponges that they advertise

to put under your legs to elevate them. I put it sideways

and bump my feet up against them. I just don't want to make

my foot drop worse. I hope this makes sense. It is hard to describe.

I sleep on my back so it seems to work for me.

Oh how I know how it feels in the morning when I get up. I have to do little

exercises before I get out of bed. Otherwise my feet dont work. I lie there

under the comfy covers and move my feet in any direction they well go, Up,

down, side to side.

Just a couple of minutes makes a big differance. As to sleeping, if I lay on my

side, and it does not matter which one, my left foot does not touch the mattress

because it's so out of wack. So I found that I do not even attempt to lay my

left leg flat. I bend the knee just so slight and bingo, the foot will lay

flat. Sometimes I place the side of the foot at the very edge of the mattress

and it rests in the arch. That works wonderful also.
