Guest guest
Clear DayWe have a popular weekly magazine in Canada called MacLean's. In a recent issue MacLean's named Chantal Petitclerc as their choice for Canadian of the Year - 2004. In wheelchair racing, the 35 year-old Chantal won an amazing 5 Gold Medals at the Paralympics in Athens, and broke 3 world records. Athlete's Canada awarded Chantal top track & field athlete of the year. However, the award was to be shared with able- bodied hurdler Perdita Felicien. Felicien had a great season but lost in her Olympic final race. Chantal refused this award. In her own words Chantal said, " by accepting, the message I'd be sending to everybody was that this was all my Paralympic medals and my world records were worth. " Right on Chantal. You can find out more by going to www.macleans.ca. Just scroll down a bit and you will see a picture of Chantal and can click onto the full story.
